Futurehealth Plenary Talk by Rae Tattenbaum A previously undiagnosed case of Lyme disease of the central nervous system revealed a shift from a basically normal brain map to one that was strikingly abnormal. I used many intervention methods in my search for recovery ranging from medical, to neurological, to spiritual. I benchmarked my progress using past maps taken during the healing process and ultimately saw a clear shift from normal, to abnormal, to renormalization. But which of all these techniques made this happen? Which of them helped me regain my cognitive functioning?
The journey begins in a hyperbaric chamber facing a gentleman recovering from a stroke. Beside him is a 17 year old paraplegic once a promising scholar athlete before his car crash. As for me, I am here because over the past six months, I have experienced an astounding decrease in word finding and memory aptitude to the point where I am now very worried. Thus began my journey into the world of the patient. A previously undiagnosed case of Lyme disease of the central nervous system revealed a shift from a basically normal brain map to one that was strikingly abnormal.

I invite you to come and hear about this personal journey that taught me about self, spirit and healing. This experience forced me to look at my own daily life, my work with clients and my beliefs. Previously I was using a Neurofeedback software and approaches that was site specific. I had successfully facilitated clients in achieving more optimal functioning yet this very technology proved to give me a short respite rather than support the other healing interventions. An important step in recovery was to allow my faith in this technology known as Neurofeedback to be put to the test and become a client with a practitioner using a two channel approach. Sessions later it was clear that this software permitted my brain and central nervous system to self correct. This experience has allowed me to change my thoughts about the role of information technology. This talk will utilize the maps which show a change in brain function and discuss why this software would appear to support recovery from Lyme disease and other issues impacting the central nervous system. My use of technology has changed as has my functioning. I see a new model emerging that incorporates the client, the technology, the clinician and spirit.
